Subject:  Looking for Volunteer Framing Carpenters

Calling all riders, Dispatch or not.

As many of you know the Yankee Air Museum was evicted from our temporary home, the 66 year old building was contaminated with asbestos and lead in the water.

Fortunately talks had been ongoing with MIAT (Michigan Institute of Aeronautical Technology) their building was going to be up for sale and since it is adjacent to the land where the new hangar is planned Yankee Purchased the building.

A build out is needed to conform to local and federal rules and to make the building usable as a museum and offices. The building is located on the east side of Willow Run on Beck road north of Tyler.

Yankee Air Museum is looking for a few carpenters with framing skills.

Starting in mid March 2010 we need help for about 2 months 2 or 3 days a week 3 or 4 hours per day and the workers can set their own schedule.

Those interested should contact Lou Farkus 734-637-2117 and mention that you heard this from the YAM Dispatch Riders.

In Memory of Beverly Gill
Below is a copy of an article by Larry Amprim Published in the January 2010 issue of "Hangar Happenings" The newsletter of the Yankee Air Museum. The photo's the article refers to were not available for me to insert online but you can see all the photos from Bev's Funeral by following this link http://public.fotki.com/Kos/members_photo_galle/hangar_happenins_--3/hangar-happenins-ja/

The Dispatch Riders are saddened to report the passing of our administrator, Beverly Gill on November 12, 2009.

For those who did not have the privilege to know Beverly, you missed the opportunity to know a beautiful, loving, organized and efficient, wife, mother, friend and the soul of our department.

Beverly conceived and developed the idea of the Yankee Air Museum quilt and when it was raffled at Thunder 2009 it resulted in a tidy sum going to our museum.

The successful group ride to Thunder 2009 was Beverly’s idea, another great fund raiser and will be reproduced in 2010.

As Beverly was recovering from the effects of Chemotherapy I would visit and she always told me that part of her recovery plan was to resume the reign of the Dispatch Riders.

     That was not to be.

The pictures are from Beverly’s funeral November 17.

Motorcycle people share a bond and they are some of the most caring, charitable and giving people and we surround one of ours when in need, this is evidenced by the photos of the riders who were honored to accompany  Richard in Beverly’s last ride.

God’s Speed Beverly
